Fishball PingPong is a coming of age story about how a young girl was talent-scouted to join the team to represent Singapore in the Youth Olympic Games in Table Tennis.

Set in 2009/2010, Candy Ong is a girl with a simple dream. She intends to inherit the family stall of selling freshly handmade fishballs and fishball noodles. She is uncouth, bashful, typically tomboyish but has a heart of gold and is a very filial daughter and granddaughter.

Song Jia Ler is a Chinese National who was talent-scouted in China to make the switch in citizenship so that she can represent Singapore in Table Tennis. She is a rising star and the nation’s hope of a Youth Olympic medal rests on her and her teammates.

During an unfortunate accident, one of Song’s teammates was badly injured. Coach Ma, the national coach for the Youth Olympic Team, began hastily looking for a replacement.

Coincidentally, Coach Ma notices Candy’s natural moves with her fishballs as she instinctively uses her ladle and bowls to great effect. He immediately thinks he has found the ideal replacement. But has he?
